Star Exhibit wins 2017 Thoroughbred Club 50th Stakes Listed $120,000 at Caulfield (VIC), 1440m.
The Perth Cup (Gr 2, 2400m) winner Star Exhibit created quite an impression with his first up win in his eastern states debut for new trainer Darren Weir. Having his first start since winning that race at Ascot on New Year’s Eve, he settled in sixth place, one off the rails, tracked up well nearing the home turn, challenged at the 200m and proved too strong in the closing stages to win impressively.
Charmed Harmony settled well at a moderate pace outside the leader (Top Me Up). He challenged at the 200m and kept fighting on well to take second placing.
Top Me Up went to the front, steadied the early pace and then fought back well in the straight for third.
