Malibu Style wins 2016 R.S. Crawford Stakes Listed $100,000 at Ascot (WA) 4yo+, 1000m.
Malibu Style had a good trip in fourth place, behind a quick tempo, went to third nearing the home turn and challenged on straightening. He got went to the front on passing the 100m and then went on to win well, and in quick time (57.97).
Potent Secret went to the front but was pressured (by Smoko) before taking the lead at the 300m. He then fought very gamely, only being overtaken late for second, putting up a good effort after working most of the way.
Rebel King was third on the rails, was fourth rounding the home turn and then battled on well for third.
Smoko showed his usual pace, leading narrowly (outside Potent Secret) and held on after a hard run for good fourth.
