Shezhardtocatch was slow to find her feet and found herself back of midfield when they settled. Jockey Grant Cooksley saved ground along the fence to the last corner, moving off the fence into the straight. At the 250m mark they were presented with a beautiful split deeper out and five wide they headed for the wire, ranged up to the leaders and then lunged just short of the line to win a head bobber.
Consistent mare Snowdrop had a lovely trail, one out and one back to the last corner, moved another width out into the straight and set sail for home. She made the lead at the 250m mark but then the challenges came. In a blanket finish she lost the lead in the last stride, a game, narrowly beaten second.
Top-weight, Perfect Fit, sat in behind the leader to the home straight, got away from the fence once balanced and ran very gamely under her 60kg to the post only to lose in a three-way go.
