Cavaloce wins 2016 Programmed Durbridge Stakes Listed $100,000 at Morphettville (SA), 1200m.
A last to first win for Cavaloce who went up in the air slightly at the start and subsequently settled back at the rear from barrier five. She stayed next to the fence as they passed the 1000m but was only six lengths from the lead. Approaching the corner she moved off the fence and began to thread her way through runners until traffic forced her wider. Into the straight she balanced up and then really motored, gathering in the leaders inside the 100m and drawing clear for a decisive win, her first at stakes level.
Lord Aspen sat fifth around the bend and into the straight, had plenty of space to challenge, briefly holding the lead at the 100m but was swamped over the final 50m.
Casino Wizard tracked Lord Aspen around the bend, straightened alongside that runner but never passed him, holding on well for third at the line.
