Sheidel wins 2016 Cape Grim Beef Steaks Group 3 $150,000 at Caulfield (VIC) 4yo+Mares, 1200m.
Former WA-trained mare Sheidel put up a really smart effort in winning here. She began well, raced outside the leader (Lake Como), at a very solid tempo (first 600m 34.33) before getting to the front on straightening. She then dug deep when challenged for a narrowly but very good win.
Silent Sedition had a good trip in third place, challenged on the inner at the 200m and battled strongly for second just finding the winner a bit too good.
A Lotta Love raced in last place in the 13-horse field, put in a strong run (in the centre of the track) on turning for home and ran on for a late-closing third.
Ravi also raced back towards the tail of the field. She fanned deep at the home turn, put in a good run (wide out) and then kept fighting on nicely for (1.2 lengths) fourth.
