Viddora wins 2016 Ubet Lightning Stakes Listed $100,000 at Morphettville (SA) 2, 3yo, 1050m.
Three-year-old filly Viddora put up a good effort in winning here from her outside barrier (14). She began quickly but was trapped deep, settling in seventh spot before improving (still deep) rounding the home turn. She then put in a quick run, hit the front at the 100m and fought back gamely to score well.
Ocean Embers settled back in 11th place, between runners, switched deep on turning for home and looked a real threat when she challenged on passing the 100m and then fought well for a good second just finding the winner a bit too good.
Smart two-year-old filly Showpero settled in sixth place on the rails from her inside barrier (1). She continued along the inner to be in a challenging position at the 200m and then battled well for a good third, her first defeat in three starts.
