Rosmartini wins 2016 Belmont Classic Listed $100,000 at Belmont Park (WA) 3yo, 2200m.
Rosmartini followed up her recent win in the Belmont Oaks (Listed, 2100m) with another good all-the-way win here. After going to the lead she then steadied the mid-race tempo. She got a break on turning for home and then stuck gamely to her task in the Soft5 conditions to win well.
Senso raced in fifth place one off the rails, improved nicely nearing the home turn, looked a real threat at the 100m and kept fighting well for a good second.
Jetoomy was near last, improved (wide) at the home turn and ran on well to take the minor placing.
The favourite Juicing Carrots had a good trip in seventh place one off the rails before moving up nicely nearing the home turn. But he just battled in the straight for (2.8 lengths) fourth, perhaps being disadvantaged by the sprint-home conditions of the race.
