Iggimacool wins 2016 Vrc-Crv Winter C’ship Final Listed $150,000 at Flemington (VIC), 1600m.
Iggimacool put up a smart effort. She was ridden patiently by Dwayne Dunn and settled back in tenth place, three wide with cover before starting a strong run from the 400m. She challenged on passing the 200m and after taking the lead at the 100m, fought back gamely for a very good win.
Petrology tracked the eventual winner, racing well back in 11th place. He went deep from the 400m, challenged in the centre of the track at the 100m and battled strongly for a good second, just finding the winner a bit too good.
Onpicalo went to the front, set a reasonable tempo (first 100m 62.53), picked up the pace from the 600m and was only headed on passing the 100m before holding on for third after running a bold race.
The favourite Chance To Dance disappointed. He was fifth on the rails, went to third at the 400m but just battled from that point to finish (6.9 lengths) 11th.
