Lord Von Costa wins 2016 A.R. Creswick Series Final Listed $120,000 at Flemington (VIC) 3yo, 1200m.
After good seconds at his first two runs this preparation, Lord Von Costa was well supported and scored a good win, his first at stakes level in nine starts to date. He settled in fifth place, between runners, behind a very steady tempo (first 600m 37.16). He switched to the inner at 400m as the pace picked up, got to the front at the 100m and then fought back gamely for a narrow but smart win.
Prince Of Brooklyn settled in seventh place, behind runners on the rails side. He got along the inner from the 300m and then battled strongly, in the sprint home, for a very good second at only his second run from a lengthy break.
The favourite Odyssey Moon raced in fourth place, close to the leaders (without cover) in the centre of the track, racing a bit keenly in stages due to the steady early pace. He challenged at the 100m and fought well in the sprint home for a close-up third.
Sooboog was handily placed, challenged the leader (El Dorado Mine) at the 200m and kept battling well for (1.1 lengths) fourth after seeming to have every chance.
We're Sure was back in eighth place, between runners, before making late ground for an encouraging (1.9 lengths) fifth.
I Boogi ran well. Having only his second race start after second in a Werribee Maiden (1100m) on 25 January, he raced just behind the leaders and battled on particularly well for (2 lengths) sixth in a most promising effort.
