Nautical wins 2016 Hilton Nicholas Straight Six Listed $120,000 at Flemington (VIC), 1200m.
Nautical drew one from the outside and settled in behind the group of five that went out into the center of the track. At the crossing, she moved a little closer to the inside group and had a clear view of the straight yet giving the leaders two or three lengths. Still closer at the 300m, there were many chances across the track and at the 200m she was equal second with six others. At the 100m she edged into the lead and clung on at the post.
Whistle Baby was alongside the winner between the 300m and the 200m and tried gamely to stick with Nautical over the final 50m but was narrowly outlasted.
Odyssey Moon was back on the rails past the crossing and saw daylight at the 300m, running on strongly, especially over the last 100m to grab third in a three-way go.
