Heavens Above wins 2016 City Ford Group Aspiration Hcp Group 3 $150,000 at Randwick (NSW) 3yo+Fillies & Mares, 1600m.
Heavens Above settled back in the field as usual, travelling in ninth place in the 11-horse field, following a solid pace (first 1000m 59.78). She made a wide move from the 600m, challenged strongly at the 200m and finished a bit too well to score a really good win.
Top-weight All Cerise went to the front, as usual and ran along at a good tempo. She only wilted slightly in the closing stages for a very good second, her first defeat in her last five starts, conceding 4kg to the winner.
Alegria was near last to the 800m, improved wide with cover from the 600m, went deep at the 300m and ran on really well to grab third in a photo. She should appreciate stepping up in distance.
Skyline Blush had a nice trip in fourth place, challenged at the 300m and kept fighting on for a sound (2.1 lengths) fourth.
