Politeness wins 2015 Myer Classic Group 1 $500,000 at Flemington (VIC) 3yo+Fillies & Mares, 1600m.
Politeness scored a good win. She was ridden quietly as usual and settled back in tenth place before tracking up nicely (wide with cover) nearing the home turn. She put in a strong run on passing the 300m, hit the front at the 100m and went on to win well.
Fenway traveled nicely in fifth place, one off the rails, moved up well (three wide) at the home turn, got to the front at the 200m and battled gamely for a good second.
Azkadellia raced near the tail of field on the rails and was shuffled back to last in the 15-horse field at the 300m. She then came with a strong late run to take a most unlucky third.
May's Dream settled in ninth place, improved (three wide) from the 700m, challenged at the 300m and then fought on well for a good (1.5 lengths) fourth.
Amicus was near last, put in a run from the 300m and fought well for (2.3 lengths) fifth.
Stay With Me was last to the home turn, switched out at the 300m and made ground without threatening for (2.6 lengths) sixth while the favourite Royal Descent disappointed, never looking a chance, tiring from seventh at the home turn to finish 13th.
