Le Bonsir broke through here for his first success since taking out a 1200m Listed race at this track in September 2013. He began nicely and settled in eighth place, one off the rails, following a good tempo. Damien Oliver angled him through a nice split at the home turn to challenge at the 100m and he then finished too well to score a good win.
Just Magical raced in fifth place, between runners, before improving to go to third nearing the home turn. He hit the front at the 100m and battled on for a good second.
Il Cavallo showed pace to race outside the leader (Sweet Emily). He was under pressure at the home turn but kept fighting on to take third after working in the early stages.
The favourite Gregers was quickly away from her wide barrier (11) but was then trapped deep, without cover. She moved up (still wide) approaching the home turn and then fought on for (3.2 lengths) seventh after a difficult trip.
