Real Surreal wins 2015 Sky Gai Waterhouse Classic Listed $100,000 at Ipswich (QLD) Fillies & Mares, 1350m.
The 2013 Magic Millions 2YO Classic (RL, 1200m) winner Real Surreal put up a very good effort to win at only her second run from a lengthy spell. She settled back in 12th place after a slow beginning, improved (wide out) from the 600m and fanned widest on straightening. She then came with a strong late finish to score by a half neck, going away.
Tukiyo raced outside the leader (Mywayorthehighway), got to a narrow lead at the 100m and fought gamely for a good second.
Fare Well settled in a good spot, third on the rails, got a split to challenge at the 200m and then battled well for a close-up third.
Refer was seventh but trapped deep from barrier ten. She moved up wide from the 700m and challenged at the home turn. She then kept fighting on well for a close fourth (beaten 0.5 lengths) after a difficult trip.
Second favourite Champagne Cath disappointed. She was fourth, one out and one back, moved up nicely approaching the home turn but just battled in the straight for (2.9 lengths) tenth.
