Real Good was away well from the gates and taken across to the fence in fourth position about five lengths from the leader Taillevent, who ran along in front. He worked off the fence on turning for home, straightening in the clear four wide. He responded to hard riding taking the lead inside the final 100m and despite laying in under pressure was able to just hold on.
Handfast raced on the outside of the winner and came five wide on the home turn. He worked home steadily to just miss in a photo finish.
Mr Optimistic came from second last to close late for third, a sound run considering the amount of ground he made up late.
