Singapore Racing - Weekend Review - Friday 8th of May

There was just the sole meeting in Singapore over the weekend, with the Theo Kieser trained Sebas one of the stand-out performances on Friday night.

Lining up in the final event, the son of Exceed And Excel was too sharp for his rivals, leading throughout in the 1000m event.

Sebas

A narrow winner first up, Sebas was simply outclassed behind Kiwi Karma two back, when unplaced in the Group 3 Singapore 3YO Sprint.

Dropping back noticeably in grade to a Class 4 event, Sebas flew the gates to lead, with the heavily supported Invincible Man settling second.

Scorching the turf early (23.89 seconds for the first 400m), Sebas travelled strongly in front, with Alan Munro swinging off the three-year-old inside the 300m.

Let rip shortly after, Sebas quickly beat off Invincible Man — drawing three lengths clear inside the 200m.

Both the Cliff Brown trained Clip The Ticket and the Michael Freedman trained Golden Tomahawk stuck on well, however they were clearly no match.

Eased down late, Sebas went on to score by two lengths and recorded a new career peak in the process.

A winner of three of seven starts including two minor placings, Sebas' only blemishes have come in Group company and is clearly heading in the right direction.

Since breaking his maiden status in September last year, Sebas has improved eight pounds and is building quite the handy record.

Overall he comparatively recorded the second quickest time of the night, marked just 0.03 seconds slower than the Class 3 event earlier in the night.

On the bare form he is clearly an above average Class 4 victor and is expected to continue his rise through the grades.

Golden Tomahawk

Out of the same event, the Michael Freedman trained Golden Tomahawk should be followed closely, as he is capable when right.

On debut for the Freedman stable, Golden Tomahawk hit the line well and while marked well below his best, he is obviously open to good improvement.

The form through both Wimbledon and My Lucky Strike reads well moving forward and he remains under strong notice.

Nova Warrior

Debut victor Nova Warrior lived up to his heavy market support, when proving too strong on-speed in the second event.

Stepping out for the Mok Zhan Lun stable, Nova Warrior really had to dig in deep after he was pestered in-front

Ridden by Manoel Nunes, Nova Warrior had to contend with the Stephen Gray trained So The Thing who eyeballed the latter throughout.

Under siege on straightening, Nova Warrior appeared in trouble before responding well under Nunes.

Kicking back along the inside, Nova Warrior regained the lead passing the 200m and really dug in deep to hold off the Laurie Laxon trained Katagas to salute by half a length.

On Timeform ratings he returned a solid debut winning figure and comparatively was marked just two lengths slower than Class 3 winner Blue Diamond.

Nova Warrior should derive good improvement from his debut performance and is expected to improve between four and five pounds at his next start.

He appears a nice horse moving forward and should be followed closely.
