Julinsky Prince was ridden positively from barrier seven to cross and secure a lovely spot in the trail, in a race run at a genuine tempo. He sweated on a run against the rail, which presented at the 200m and dived through to gain victory by the narrowest of margins.
After beginning tardily, Kawi was urged to recover through the pack and being caught three wide he progressed forward to sit second in the open from the 1000m. Kawi gained an advantage briefly at the 200m but try as he may he could not quite withstand the horse to his inner. The first two were dominant over their rivals.
Lost for early pace, third placed Lauren Tate settled last, made progress near the rail to be tenth at the 600m and tracking up off the rail into the straight she sustained a determined finish in tight quarters.
Smartly tracked the winner through on the rail and rounded off strongly for fourth.
Silverdale circled from back in the field for fifth and the leader, Matimba, fought well for sixth after being collared at the 200m.
