Impressive winning his last two starts, Passing Shot added to a previous stakes placing with a deserved win. First out of the gates from barrier one, before steadying to trail, Passing Shot received a timely split two off the fence on straightening, levelled in front without serious urging at the 200m and held the stern challenge of a rival at bay when asked for his best.
Easy off the outside gate (10) to settle at the rear, Red Striker stood the leader seven lengths at the 600m and after circling widest she sustained a big finish for second.
Mighty Maverick worked forward to settle three back on the inner and tracking into the clear at the 200m he wound up strongly for third.
Tracking Mighty Maverick in the run, No Tricks followed a similar path near the rail and hit the line late to grab (1.8 lengths) fourth. Los Vargas fought solidly for (2 lengths) fifth after racing outside the leader.
