San Nicasio wins 2015 Hyland Colours Autumn Stakes Group 2 $200,000 at Caulfield (VIC) 3yo, 1400m.
San Nicasio was smartly away and soon went to the front. He then steadied the pace (1st 800m 48.96) before dashing clear on turning for home. He then fought back well to score nicely by just under length after enjoying a good trip in the lead.
Zebulon raced outside the leader, was beaten for pace at the 300m and then fought back quite well for a sound second.
Firehouse Rock was sixth, between runners, got into the clear at the 200m and battled on in the sprint home for third.
Moonovermanhattan was fifth, between runners, moved up three wide nearing the home turn and fought on for (2.9 lengths) fourth.
Hong Kong Captain was third on the rails to the home turn and held on for fifth.
The favourite Profit Share was a little slow to move, was shuffled back to near last on the rails and made late ground for (3.5 lengths) sixth, being held-up for clear running over the latter stages. His rare unplaced effort should be overlooked.
