Golden Rose Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) runner-up Scissor Kick impressed with his strong first-up win. He led in the early stages and then eased to settle in fourth place (one out and one back). He moved up nicely rounding the home turn, went to second at the 200m and responded to riding and finished too well to score in good style.

Delectation soon crossed to the lead and he looked the winner when he grabbed a clear break at the 200m. But he then raced a bit greenly, ducking back to the rails at the 100m, and then tired a little for second.

Harrier Jet had a good run from his inside barrier (1) racing in third place on the rails. He got though along the rails in the straight and kept fighting on well for a good third.

Kermadec settled back in sixth place, one off the rails in the seven-horse field. He improved nicely from the 600m, fanned wide on straightening and ran on resolutely for a very good first-up (1.5 lengths) fourth.

The favourite Inz'n'out was slowly away and was last early on before making a quick run (wide) run to race outside the leader. But that told on him in the straight and he dropped out to finish (5.7 lengths) last.
