Liberty’s Gem wins 2014 Placid Ark Stakes Listed $100,000 at Ascot (WA) 3yo, 1200m.
The well-supported favourite Liberty's Gem was smartly away from his inside barrier (1) and soon took the lead. He then travelled well in front, dashed clear shortly after straightening and then fought back well to score by a short neck.
Malibu Style was sixth, one off the rails, to the 600m. He switched out on straightening, got to third at the 100m and kept running on to finish second.
Fuld’s Bet enjoyed a good trip behind the leader, lookeda threat when he got into the clear at the 200m and then battledon for a close-up third after appearing to have every chance, whileDubreeze raced outside the leader and held on quite well for (1.3lengths) fourth.
