Earthquake wins 2014 Thoroughbred Club Stakes Group 3 $150,000 at Caulfield (VIC) 3yo Fillies, 1200m.
Earthquake stumbled at the start but quickly recovered to settle outside the leader Tawteen, going along at a solid tempo (first 600m 34.63). She challenged Tawteen strongly at the 200m, got the upper hand at the 100m and went on to win in good style by a length.
Tawteen began smartly and set a good pace, leading until passing the 200m and then fought on well for a good second, just finding the winner (whom conceded her 3.5kg) too good.
More Radiant raced a bit keenly in the first time blinkers in sixth place three wide with cover. She switched out at the 400m and kept making ground for third, putting up quite a promising effort.
London Lolly was fourth between runners, got to third at the 200m and then fought on to finish (2.4 lengths) fourth.
Ygritte held on quite well for (2.5 lengths) fifth after being trapped three deep outside the leading pair to the turn.
