Mighty Lucky finished best to claim a narrow win in a thrilling Luskin Star Stakes at Scone on Saturday.
Mighty Lucky settled down in sixth between horse about six lengths from the leader I’m In The Money who ran along in front.
He came with a determined run in the straight, racing tight between horses, to grab the lead a few stride before the post and just had enough to hold of Haussmann on his outside in a tight finish.
Haussmann raced on the outside of the winner three wide with a trail. He cornered four wide and came with a good finish to just miss. A good run considering the extra ground he covered in the run.
Emblems was away first from the barriers and led early. He took a sit in second position when I’m In The Money pressed on to lead. He switched off the fence approaching the home turn and raced up to the leader looking the winner. He hit the front but could not fend off the late finishes of the first two. A solid effort.
Masthead raced on the inside of the winner in seventh position on the rails. He never had clear running the in straight and should have finished much closer. A horse to follow.
