Pure Purrfection provided another rough result at Doomben claiming the Bribie Handicap.
Outsider Pure Purrfection scored her first win since winning at this track in February last year.
She raced in seventh place, between runners, following a solid pace. She got a split on turning for home, went to third at the 200m and finished too well to win by a half-neck. She then survived a protest from the runner-up.
Metallurgical was eighth on the rails, moved along the rails at the 300m to challenge on passing the 100m and then fought on for second. James McDonald protested against the winner but was later fined $200 for a frivolous protest.
Doubtfilly was eased from her wide barrier (9) and was second last in the 12-horse field in the early stages. She improved to ninth (between runners) coming to the turn, switched wide under pressure at the 200m and ran on quite well for third.
Seeking More raced outside the leader, went to the front at the 200m and fought on for (1.9 lengths) fourth while the favourite Our Boy Malachi worked in the early stages before crossing to take the lead approaching the 600m. He then led the field until the 200m but tired after his early efforts to finish (2.9 lengths) fifth.
