Best From The West: Ascot – 26th February 2022

We begin the trek to the WA Derby and WA Oaks with some Listed features at Ascot.

Ascot Picture: Racing and Sports

The boys division is the Lex Piper Stakes over the mile and tipping there is a possibility of an upset with Henchard.

The son of Blackfriars took a long while to wind up over the 1400m suggesting this journey and even further as we head to the classics will only benefit.

No question Trix Of The Trade is hard to beat but he's now getting to a trip which is a little more out of his comfort zone.

Hoping that Chris Parnham will have Henchard that bit closer this time from the barrier and his strength will play a big role with a little weight pull too.

The fillies race is the Ascot 1000 Guineas but theirs is over 1800m.

There is very little between most of these on ratings and that should mean the betting is showing value.

We'll use that same race as the males as the form here when Miss Field tackles the fillies this time.

There was nothing between her and Henchard in that last outing and as long as she runs the journey, she's right in this.

Aiding that prospect is drawing gate one from this tricky start so she can sit just forward of midfield and hopefully has too much dash.
