The road to the Winter Championships is in full swing at Flemington on Saturday.
We're saving our best till the last with the hugely talented Sure Knee taken to land what would be a well deserved win over the Flemington mile.
She didn't look to get home over 2000m in the Australiasian Oaks but her mile runs either side of that have been brilliant, just finding star fillies in top form to knock her off on each occasion.
We need Sure Knee to go to the well again on Saturday, but if she can (and we think that she can) then she has too much firepower for an even lot of off-season three-year-old milers.
Sure Knee has made the pages of The Melbourne Mail before, and our each-way play is another stalwart of the Mail - Invincible Al.
Now Al hasn't always done right by us - his low percentage racing pattern often making him a fairly ordinary gamble - but he has talent beyond his strike rate and on Saturday he finds a senior jockey (handy for a horse as tricky to ride as him) and a very skinny race where he catches all his rivals off a break.
Basically, it's all been put on a platter for Al who will find chances as good as this few and far between, and each way odds about him appeals in a field of nine.
THE MELBOURNE MAIL
Bet Of The Day: Race 9 #4 Sure Knee @ $2.80
Each Way Play: Race 3 #3 Invincible Al @ $7.00
