Brisbane Best: Eagle Farm – 13th April 2019

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Spin looks to have found the right race at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Spin enjoys a drop in grade when he takes on the Artisan Carnival High Tea Class 3 over 1200m.

The gelding has always been highly regarded and was a multiple Group placegetter in Sydney as a juvenile.

While he has yet to deliver on that promise at three, he does look well-placed at his second Queensland run after working to the line well at this course and distance three weeks ago.

That was in a C6 so this is easier and he gets accomplished rider Larry Cassidy in the saddle.

Spin headed north after a close third over 1200m at Randwick two starts back and if he performs up to the rating he delivered on that occasion he should have too much class for these.

A quick back-up could see Defence Missile at his best for the Caleb Plate (1400m) later in the program.

The capable three-year-old was only beaten 1.4L in a similarly-graded race at Toowoomba last week when he fought on well after being caught wide early.

Defence Missile was right in the thick of things until the final stages and from gate two he is drawn to get a much better run in transit.

Last month he pushed the smart three-year-old Mishani Hustler to less than a length in the rich Jewel Prelude at Doomben.

This is certainly an easier task and he could give a sight at each way odds.
