Brisbane Best – August 11

Doomben hosts a good card of racing on a good surface.

Doomben Picture: Racing and Sports

Getting back into a fillies and mares race, My Girl Hayley looks appealing.

She has been racing in open class and Class 6 company and is now back to all female grade.

The mare did just that back in October and won in a similar sort of race. She handles wet or dry and hasn’t missed the placings for 18 months.

Preferable that she is back to the 1200m now and just needs a good run in transit after drawing a low draw.

In what shapes as a really good contest, Tawfiq Boy could be a value runner in Race 4.

Kris Lees has a top record sending them north and he kept improving, qualifying for the Provincial Championships Qualifier where he couldn’t hold on.

He’s had two trials to be ready and Doomben will suit a horse like him given his on-pace racing pattern.

The gate gives him the chance to do no work at all.
