Eclipse Splash To Make Waves At Kranji

Eclipse Splash will look to continue his strong recent form when he lines up in the Kranji Stakes A (1400m) on Friday night.

The Steven Burridge-trained runner returned in terrific order to win a Class 2 over this C/D earlier in the month and has now won five of his eight starts, placing on two further occasions.

Down in the weights with just 53.5kg, Eclipse Splash does his best racing over the 1400m trip and from the wide draw expect him to push forward once again to take up the lead.

Running to a new career peak Timeform rating of 90 when winning by a length last start, the son of Showcasing certainly measures up well against his rivals today and no reason he can’t make it two from as many starts this campaign.

In order to be winning here, Eclipse Splash will need to get the better of the returning Gilt Complex who was outstanding over staying trips last campaign winning the Raffles and Gold Cup double prior to a spell.

Does have form over the 1400m trip but returned over the mile last campaign when only fair in the Group 3 Committee’s Prize.

From five previous first up efforts, Gilt Complex has won just the one with a further placing and with the 59.5kg certainly has plenty against today.

Likely to settle in the second half of the field over the shorter trip but will be getting to the line very strongly and off his terrific Group 1 winning form last campaign cannot be ruled out in a race like this.

Mr Fantastic is a very consistent six-year-old gelding who was last seen when running fourth in the Group 3 New Year Cup (1200m) and should appreciate the step up to 1400m today.

Has since gone on to finis third to the very talented Tannhauser in a recent barrier trial over 1000m and also gets back on the turf track which will suit.

Drawn a middle barrier, the Ricardo Le Grange-trained runner is likely to find a spot just off the leaders and running some very strong figures during last year is more than capable of making his way into the finish.

Chairman is another that continues to win races and has finished outside the placings just once in his last eight when fourth in a Class 3 last year.

Most recent win came in good order over the mile in November last year and has been readied for this with a trial effort over 1000m on January 9.

Will carry just the 52kg today and despite taking on tougher company he is a very consistent type who is probably looking for more ground but is capable of running into the finish.

Good Luck!
