Ipswich will play host to Saturday’s Metropolitan meeting in the sunshine state with nine competitive races on the program.
There are plenty of short priced favourites in the early races which will all be hard to beat however not sure there is much value in any of them.
Later in the day Spring Tycoon will look to continue his strong recent form when he lines up in the Benchmark 75 over 1666m.
The Stuart Kendrick-trained runner began the preparation in good order with two second placings before going on to win over 1350m at Doomben last week.
On the quick back up today, Spring Tycoon is up in trip where he has had the one start for a placing but is at peak fitness now and has drawn to get all the favours.
From barrier 3, Spring Tycoon should take a nice spot off the leaders and will be very hard to hold out over the concluding stages.
Current price of $4 looks a solid bet for a horse with his form and represents a bit more value than the odds on shots earlier in the day.
The following race also offers a runner with decent value in Star Of Night that lines up in the NMW over 1350m.
The Toby Edmonds-trained runner, currently at $5, has been knocking on the door this campaign, placing in two of her three outings, and battled on pretty well to finish runner up to Final Zero last time out.
Fourth up now, Star Of Night should be ready to fire and from the good draw will be able to settle off the leaders.
The current price looks a solid each way bet and you might even get a bit better on raceday as well.
