Brisbane Best: Doomben – August 12

Hanwritten looks well placed when he returns from a spell to tackle the Benchmark 90 over 1050m at Doomben on Saturday.

The Matthew Dunn-trained runner only had the two starts last campaign, both coming at Randwick, following up a win with a luckless fourth over 1200m before going for a spell.

The lightly raced seven-year-old has a solid record when fresh winning two of his four previous attempts and he rates well against his rivals on best form today.

From barrier 3 would expect Hanwritten to push forward and settle on the speed and based off his two runs last campaign should take plenty of beating in a race like this.

Comes up against some runners in decent form of late but he is clearly the class of the race and looks the best of the day.

Earlier in the program Mr Epic will look to get punters off to a winning start in the first race of the day when he lines up in the open handicap over 2040m.

The Toby Edmonds-trained runner has been racing well for the most part this campaign and proved too strong over this C/D with a nice win just two weeks ago.

Comes up against a smaller field today and from the inside draw suspect he won’t be too far away in the run.

Matthew McGillivray remains on board having won two of his three starts on the five-year-old and despite going up slightly in weight today he is the one to beat.

Monteux comes out of the same race when third, beaten a length and looks the main danger however Mr Epic should once again prove too strong.

Good Luck!
