Brisbane Best - June 17

Ipswich will play host to feature racing in Queensland this week with plenty of competitive races on offer.

Acatour Picture: Racing and Sports

Acatour will return from a spell when he lines up in the Listed City Of Ipswich Eye Liner Stakes.

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained runner produced strong form last campaign and has won two recent trials leading into this.

Looking for more ground than what is on offer today but has won 2/3 when first up previously and has a solid record at the trip having missed the placingsjust once in four starts.

Proven in the wet, Jeff Lloyd goes on board for the first time and he is likely to try and find some cover around midfield off the pace.

Down in the weights today with only 54kg the three-year-old colt rates well on his best form and the current price of $5 looks a solid bet for a horse with his form lining up in this company.

The last race on the programme will see Dee Nine Elle attempt to bounce back in the Gai Waterhouse Classic (1350m), following a modest effort over 1200m in the Helen Coughlan last time out.

The Tony Gollan-trained runner returned very well when running third in listed company and there is a lot to like about her efforts last campaign.

Possessing a terrific career record, Dee Nine Elle should roll forward again today from barrier 4 and has featured in the money two of her three previous third up outings including a win at this C/D.

Jim Byrne who won on the mare last campaign goes back on board today and would not be surprised to see her bounce back today and take plenty of beating.

The current price of $8.50 looks a solid each way bet considering she was a listed winner two starts back and has shown good ability in her career to date.

Good Luck!
