Unbeaten records at the distance, course and second-up see progressive sprinter Sir Bacchus the one to beat again at Rosehill on Saturday.
That was the fifth career win for Sir Bacchus from just nine runs and he is unbeaten in his four attempts at 1200m.
He has also won all three of his appearances at Rosehill and is two from two in second-up runs so he can be expected to progress on his resuming performance and his Timeform figure that day was already good enough to suggest he has the edge on this field.Sir Bacchus goes up 2kg in weight but there is likely to be a solid early tempo to suit his style of racing and he again has the services of Hugh Bowman.
He takes on a couple well-credentialed rivals in the unbeaten Bullrush and the capable Suspense, who has won both of his previous fresh runs, but Sir Bacchus has the fitness edge and looks capable of better things. The Irresistible Pools Sheraco Stakes (1200m) is one of the tougher races on the program but black-type winning mare Savoureux looks to offer good value.
That run was over 1100m and the way she finished off suggests the extra 100m will be much more to her liking while the Timeform rating she produced first up gives her one of the highest last-start weight-adjusted figures in this line-up.
Savoureux has won five from 11 runs at 1200m including a similar race to this, the Group 3 Wenona Girl Quality at Randwick in the autumn.Savoureux is likely to drift back in the field early but an anticipated strong early tempo should allow her to finish off and Bowman goes aboard for the first time in a key rider booking.
