The Justin Warwick trained Material Man couldn't have been more impressive in his first attempt beyond the mile last start and can easily bring up the hat-trick on Saturday.

Due to contest the fifth event the son of Vital Equine chases his seventh win from just nine starts, having returned a new career peak at his latest attempt.

Making the sharp rise from the mile to 2200m, Material Man simply toyed with his rivals despite not favoured by the moderate tempo.

He proceeded to reel off a slick closing sectional and in truth won with a leg in the air under Lucy Warwick.

Rising just 1kg off the back of that win he appears very well placed and while lining up against impressive last start winners Falcon Crest and Fathoms Of Gold, Material Man should have their measure.

Given 28 days between runs the slight drop back in trip will no doubt suit and he should get a lovely smother from the inside draw.

Although no flash odds ($2.30) he still presents good value as we have marked the dominant $1.90 favourite (9%).

Material Man is the top rated galloper based on last start figures and given he has a 2L winning margin up his sleeve he looks to set a decent standard and should prove very hard to beat.

In the final event the Jim Taylor trained Recoiled presents plenty of value and is expected to make his presence felt from the inside draw.

Only lightly raced Recoiled has notched up two wins from his six starts and remains a big watch coming into this on the fresh side (35 days).

His effort behind Three Votes last start leaves him well placed and a repeat of that level of performance should see him right in the finish.
