Say From SA - May 14

After a nice bit of luck last week, let’s see if we can back it up on Derby Day at Morphettville.

Tarquin is great value in the Derby Picture: Racing and Sports

Again we think it is a week to be looking for value and Duke Of Brunswick can be that for Mick Price in the BM90 sprint.

This four year old has a very good first up record and began last preparation with a win at Pakenham followed by three good runs at Caulfield.

He won’t be contesting the front and can just track them into the straight then peel wide where many winners came last week.

He handles all conditions and looks well placed. If you want to save for insurance on the race, Illustrious Lad is a nice horse.

We’ll head to the blue riband next and while conceding a horse like Charlevoix is a strong hope, he seems to be too far away from a horse like Tarquin in the market.

Placed in a G1 as a two year old, that was at the mile which is often the portent to a staying future.

Godolphin pulled up stumps from the early Sydney carnival races, gave him a let up, a trial and then floated him to Melbourne.

As soon as he went anti-clockwise he won the Mornington Guineas and has since produced a strong staying effort at 2000m.

Expecting him to be getting a soft run until the 600m and then Williams might try to see if he can pinch a break on potentially more one paced types.
