Hoping this week that some punters will get disenchanted at one horse’s recent defeats and it will mean a big return in our TopBetta Tournament plays.
The horse in question is Another Cocktail and if you have backed him so far you have some sympathy as he’s been in the betting twice but not gotten the job done.
However critically this week, the import for Chris Waller is into a distance range where he can begin to show his talents.
This horse did run second in a Derby Trial at Epsom and close up in a King George V at Royal Ascot a few years ago.
Now at the mile and a quarter, he won’t have to chase as hard and to be fair has not been thrashed in either race contested in Australia.
Hugh Bowman is up and he might be ridden a little more aggressively around Rosehill.
He's $3.80 at the moment but we could even see more value on the day itself.
To the following race in the Expressway Stakes, we think there might be some value for TopBetta Tournament players in taking on the favourite and so going for the ever consistent Generalife resuming.
It isn’t an overly strong G2 race and that is about his level even though he ran some fantastic races middle of last year in the All Aged, Doomben 10,000 and Stradbroke Hcp.
He got home well in his trial after a Spring where nothing really went right for him behind the elite in the Premiere Stakes and then not best fortune Derby Day or at Sandown.
First up in the Autumn last season he won the Star Kingdom and this field is of that standard.
