Best From The West - September 5

The Grant Williams trained Halo Express made an impressive return to the winner's stall last start and appears well placed to go back to back at Belmont on Saturday.

A winner of four of his 12 career starts, the son of Danehill Express was tried over the Derby trip last campaign and hence should relish the step up to the mile on Saturday.

His latest performance saw him record a Timeform rating just two pounds shy of his career peak, which is a great sign moving forward.

Although he is yet to fire third up previously, his most recent attempt was in Listed company and on that occasion he started $21.00.

This weekend's assignment is against a lot weaker company and the lack of speed swings the race firmly in his favour.

The much in-form William Pike sticks aboard (placed 4/6) and Halo Express is yet to miss the money at this track.

Overall Pike strikes at 28 per cent with the Williams camp and overall the Williams stable is striking at 29% with gallopers on the quick back up (1-7 days).

Currently installed a 2-1 chance appears a more than worthy gamble, as we have marked closer to an even money hope.

In the final event the Simon Miller trained Meticulously creates plenty of interest on debut for his new stable.

Formerly trained by Matthew Dale, Meticulously won five of his 27 career starts and on his best form he rates highly in this line up.

He has won two of five first up and has placed in three of eight attempts over this trip.

Overall the Miller stable strikes at 17% with tried gallopers having their first run for his stable and notably has run at a POT of 18.5 per cent.

Have to respect the in-form Tudor Bolt, however at his current quote of 9-1 Meticulously presents good value, as we have him marked half that price.
