The Melbourne Mail - January 30

If success at the Meydan is to prove any more than a mirage for the talented Tawteen she will want to be taking care of her Moonee Valley rivals tonight.

Tawteen gets around the Valley in fine style Picture: Racing and Sports

Sweet Emily and Beach Front have had a series of contests of the speedsters 955m course this campaign and both are expected to run well again in a suitable race for them but Tawteen has a series of ratings clear of that pair and should get the job done en route to better things.

Racing And Sports kilogram ratings highlight the difference in performance levels between the top three contenders.

Tawteen: 48.5, 46, 46.

Beach Front: 42, 41, 40.

Sweet Emily: 40.5, 39.5, 37.5.

Over 955m those margins are compressed somewhat but there is still a clear edge in the performance level of Tawteen over the other pair.

When we factor in that Tawteen is the least exposed of the trio and statistically open to more improvement then that gap begins to widen and we end up with the Dubai-bound filly looking a fairly likely winner.

Lindsay Park Stable Update - Jan 31

The each way play comes at Flemington on Saturday with one of the most reliable horses in town.

Reliable is one way to describe Extra Zero and hopefully how we will be in Saturday afternoon, as opposed to reverting back the other way he has often been described - "non-winner".

He meets Akzar on good terms this Saturday and profiles strongly against him. Can he turn the tables? Not sure, but they are the clear top two chances and the gap between them in early betting is too big.
