Sydney Specials – May 31

A typical off season winter program comes one day early at Rosehill on Saturday.

Eight races greet punters at Rosehill on Saturday and genuine betting prospects appear minimal.

Comprised of your standard off season types with form well and truly exposed, it’s hard to get excited about wagering at Rosehill on Saturday.

The Eremein Handicap (1800m) is a fairly underwhelming contest where I’m Imposing appears well suited.

Just four horses sit inside the handicap and I’m Imposing is one of them.

The eight-year-old comes in even better at the weights after the claim of in form apprentice Taylor Marshall.

I’m Imposing should be around peak fourth run from a spell and is the deserved favourite in the Open Hanidcap.

He was just denied victory in the Lord Mayor’s Cup behind Zephryon who subsequently went on to win the Premier’s Cup at Doomben.

Stablemate Secessio also franked the form when running third behind La Amistad in the Mckell Cup (2400m).

It is clearly the strongest form line brought into the contest and the gelding does have a sense of timing abut him.

Getting a nice spot in transit will be the main concern for connections from barrier 9 with only a short run to the first turn.

Ideally, I’m Imposing will settle in the first half of the field and the weight advantage he possesses over his rivals should prove too much for them to overcome.

While having proven costly for followers in his past two outings, giving I’m Imposing one more chance in a race such as this appears advisable.

In the opening event of the program, Brazen Moss goes around at near each way odds.

The way the Gerald Ryan-trained runner has attacked the line in his three runs back from a spell point to a colt with above average ability.

It is only a matter of time before the penny drops and he begins to showcase it.

The TAB Early Quaddie Plate (1350m) based on ratings is an open sort of contest however there appears to be a greater sense of timing about Brazen Moss than anything else in this field.

Opposed to a majority of his rivals, Brazen Moss in now well into his second campaign.

For the most part in Saturday’s TAB Early Quaddie Plate, runners are either in the midst of their maiden preparations or resuming.

Possessing both fitness and race experience over most in a field is a huge advantage and from a nice barrier should enjoy a cosy run in transit.

Papillon Rouge is currently favourite for the Hyland Race Colours Benchmark 75 Handicap (1400m) however on weight adjusted ratings, sits well down the pecking order.

The filly was doing her best work late at this track last start over 1200m although was still safely held.

The daughter of Fastnet Rock has been below peak form this campaign and for that reason it may be advisable to temper expectations for now.

Sugar Rush and Mamwaazel each rate higher than Papillon Rouge on weight adjusted 50 day Timeform figures.

Kiwi Kate also profiles well heading into the race.

Even the likes of Romantic Moon and Tail Risk add interesting elements into the race and the latest form of Papillon Rouge isn’t enough to get excited about her chances as favourite at Rosehill on Saturday.
