Early mail and best exotic plays for Randwick on May 24 from Chris Scholtz.
RACE 3 (5) KATIE’S COVE: Impressive Zabeel filly landed here with a big reputation after impressive wins in New Zealand and showed her class running a luckless second against the colts in the Hawkesbury Guineas over 1400m on May 3 when she reared at the start and then had to change course when blocked at a vital stage in the straight. She’s an imposing type with abundant natural improvement to come and should find the wide Randwick stretches ideal.
RACE 4 (6) YOU’LL NEVER: Should strip at his peak for his third run of current prep after two luckless close up efforts over 1200m at Randwick and Rosehill since resuming. He’s found the line strongly from off the pace in both races and his race fitness and liking for Randwick where he’s been placed in all three starts gives him an edge over most of this field.
RACE 8 (5) TAXMEIFYOUCAN: He may have won only two of his 16 starts but his overall form for this class is strong as he boasts some excellent placings in much tougher races. Expecting good improvement from his first-up fifth in the Wagga Town Plate over 1200m when he worked to the line strongly and should find the step up to 1400m from his good draw most suitable with the benefit of a 2kg claim, noting that he has won second up at this trip.
