Early mail and best exotic plays for the Canterbury meeting on December 28 from racing editor Chris Scholtz.
CANTERBURY SATURDAY
RACE 4 (6) RED DYNAMITE: Went out for a spell in winning form in August and could return in the same vein after looking well prepared for a bold first-up showing with an impressive second in a recent Rosehill trial. Boasts a strong fresh record, he’s a winner of his only start over this course and is drawn to enjoy a great run behind a certain fast pace. Well treated against his main rivals after the 3kg claim for his apprentice rider who is looking for this third win on the gelding.
RACE 7 (7) BLACK JAG: Made a solid start to his new campaign with a closing third over 1350m at Wyong under 58kg on December 19 coming after two strong trials. This class and trip looks a good fit for him second up as he relishes this track and may get a fast run race to suit with a front running stablemate engaged.
RACE 8 (6) MESSENE: Made it six wins from nine starts with easy first-up victory over 1400m on the Kensington track on December 7 to remain unbeaten from five runs in Sydney including two wins on this track. This wil be a good test for him from an awkward outside gate but he’s definitely a horse capable of bigger things.
