Electric Fusion arguably should have won in Adelaide last time out but he can make amends for both connections and punters at Flemington on Saturday.

Electric Fusion has taken a couple of runs to find his form this campaign but looked to have found his race last time only to find himself in traffic and going backwards when the race went on in earnest.

After conceding first run to a majority of the field he did a terrific job to close inside runners and grab third behind an in-form General Peekay.

His form is still a ways short of what he showed in the spring, when his Norman Robinson third and Derby fifth earned him a Timeform rating of 112, but his current figures still stack right up coming back to an even looking handicap where he runs off an official handicap off 71 which he should prove well up to winning off.

Early markets see the son of Fastnet Rock available to back at $5.50 which appeals as a more than fair gamble.

The same can’t be said of the $2.50 being bet about Vain Queen in race three.

Unbeaten in two, Vain Queen has no doubt shown herself a talented and promising filly but it is worth noting that all six fillies to have since stepped out from behind her latest win have been beaten.

Vain Queen produced decent figures, and can win again here without surprising, but she is best opposed at her current quote in a competitive looking handicap.

The early 6/4 shot worth playing is the Peter Moody trained French import Lidari who looks every chance of turning the tables on the ever reliable Whisper Downs.

No reason to think Whisper Downs won’t run his race yet again but Lidari is on the upwards spiral coming into this third up and gets the better of the weights today.
