Schofield Appeal Dismissed

Top jockey Glyn Schofield will miss the opening two stakes races of the new season after having an appeal against a careless riding suspension dismissed on Friday.

Schofield incurred suspensions in two separate races at Rosehill on July 2 and lodged an appeal against an eight-meeting ban for careless riding aboard Kerchings.

That appeal was dismissed but Schofield's penalty was varied to six meetings.

Schofield will be suspended from after Saturday's Warwick Farm meeting and can resume riding at the Canterbury midweek meeting on August 10.

His return date also takes into account his two-meeting careless riding suspension aboard Sikka on the same day as the Kerchings incident.

Schofield will miss the Group Three Missile Stakes (1200m) and Listed Rosebud Quality (1200m) meeting at Randwick on August 6, the first stakes races of the new racing season in Sydney.
