Friday's Romford greyhound tips

ROMFORD once again stages the night's major open-race meeting with a good 12-race card at the busy Essex venue - live on the Premier Greyhound Racing service - where Getup Me Boy (9.46) could save the best for last in the concluding 575m event.

Carol Weatherall's runner is up against a classy sort in Fabulous Sonique but there was a lot to like about his battling performance to win last week when getting up to beat Nowitsmyturn in the shadow of the post seven days ago and a quicker start, more than likely from this more-than-useful four-bend sort, might see him set the tempo this time - and thereafter improvement is likely.

The aforementioned Nowitsmyturn (6.37) might kick off proceedings in the best possible way for last week's line of form when going in a maiden contest over the same 575m trip.

Richard Rees's runner starts well down the middle and could always be on the mark here if edging rivals inside and out, although Too Wright remains open to improvement.

Fire And Ice (7.11) is an eye-catcher in a Coral Romford Puppy Cup trial stakes for Matt Dartnall. Well pitched with an excellent burst of early pace, he looks tailor-made for Romford and moved well in a prep trial - dipping under 24 seconds.

Tom Heilbron has enjoyed some fruitful visits to Romford of late and that journey from his north-east base to Romford could be rewarded again with success in the offing for Madabout Peck (7.44) if hitting his stride early - a four-timer looks on the cards if doing so after back-to-back fast wins in the last fortnight.

Droopys Rarity (8.01) also catches the eye the Maxine Locke's runner goes in heat three of the Romford Friday Night 500 Standard.

Not disgraced behind Madabout Peck last week, the local hope could dominate proceedings himself tonight and a best time of 23.89sec stands out.

The Locke kennel look set for another victory given Tullymurry Dylan (8.36) can win his own race when he lines up in the sprint.

The Tullymurry Dylan Hat-Trick Race sees the six-box look to continue his fine run of form of late and, such was the tenacity and pace he showed last week, that it's difficult to oppose the local hope and the wider draw might well suit.

Yahoo Megan (9.28) looks to have a solid chance when Patrick Janssens' bitch lines up in the bitches contest on the card.

Led up last week, she battled back to land the spoils then but now gets a cracking make-up tonight given a non-runner inside, so a vacant trap affords her plenty of space.

*MAKE sure to report back tomorrow given a huge card at Perry Barr given the start of the Premier Greyhound Racing St Leger and M Lambe Construction Birmingham Cup - a fantastic double-header at the Midlands venue.
