Fairy Godmother is magic

Possibly the best winner we've seen all week.

Certainly the most interesting run.  She was at the rear of the field and Ryan Moore was having trouble finding an opening through the pack so he took her across the track to near the grandstand and once she saw daylight she produced an amazing turn of foot to get a fantastic win.  She has one of those strides that just effortlessly eats up the ground and we can't wait to see her in action again.  Simmering looked as if she was in the driving seat until Fairy Godmother shot past her and another of the O'Brien runners Heaven's Gate ran third with Mountain Breeze who had been popular in the market finished fourth but the winner comes from a different planet.

The Commonwealth Cup went to the strong-finishing Inisherin with Lake Forest the nearest challenger 2 ¼ lengths back and Jasour a beck further back in third.  There had been a bit of a move for Givemethebeatboys but something didn't click with him or he hated the surface – underwhelming.

The Coronation Cup was a wonderful result for us as Porta Fortuna won for the youngest O'Brien, defeating favourite Opera Singer by 1 length and French raider Ramatuelle, the object of a lot of interest, third.

And another happy result for us when French runner Calandagan added the King Edward VII to his CV to go with his win in the Prix Hocquart.  Space Legend ran second and Royal Supremacy 40/1 was third home.  Disappointment of the race was Diego Velazquez – he's better than this so may have a problem.
