'He is hugely exciting' - Buick praises Notable Speech ahead of Royal Ascot

William Buick is looking forward to his ride on Notable Speech in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.

NOTABLE SPEECH

The Dubawi colt made an impressive start to his turf career when a surprise winner of the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket, upholding his unbeaten record. Held up by Buick in the early stages of the race, Notable Speech produced a professional turn of foot to beat Rosallion by one-and-a-half lengths.

The form of the 2000 Guineas has since been boosted with second and third-placed Rosallion and Haatem finishing first and second in the Irish equivalent. Whilst Rosallion remains an exciting prospect over a mile for this season, Buick is excited by Notable Speech's chance in an expected rematch during Royal Ascot.

In an interview with Racing TV, Buick said: "I've been looking forward to riding him again since the Guineas and it's all systems go for what is possibly the race of the season, you just have to look forward to it.

"I was impressed with Rosallion in Ireland and I thought Sean (Levey, jockey) gave him a very good ride. I thought he did well to get up when he did and he is a top-class miler, so the rematch is on.

"I haven't ridden a miler that did what Notable Speech did that day in the Guineas. It was a huge performance he put in that day and you don't see that very often. He is hugely exciting."
