Jockey Tom Marquand has been ruled out of all rides for the remainder of Guineas weekend after sustaining an injury at Newmarket on Friday.

Prior to the opening race on Friday's card, Marquand was travelling to the start aboard Waipuro and was kicked by a rival. After receiving medical treatment from the staff on-course, he was stood down and transferred to Bury St Edmunds hospital. Waipuro was withdrawn.

Marquand took to Twitter on Friday evening to provide an update, saying "Absolutely gutted to be ruled out of this weekend's Guineas meeting after being kicked in the arm while cantering down to the start today. Thankfully my X-rays have come back clear and I'm now stitched back together after a fairly messy looking wound!".

Amongst others, Marquand will miss the rides on Charyn in Saturday's 2,000 Guineas and Stenton Glider in Sunday's 1,000 Guineas.
