The Dodgers will meet the New York Yankees, who had already booked their place with victory over the Cleveland Guardians.

Up 3-2 in the National League Championship Series, the Dodgers sealed their World Series spot with a 10-5 win at Dodger Stadium in game six.

After conceding a run in the first innings, the Dodgers took control with Tommy Edman driving in four runs as they opened a 6-1 lead in the third innings.

Will Smith followed Edman in hitting a home run as the Mets' post-season run came to an end.

The best-of-seven-game World Series begins in Los Angeles on Friday.

It will be the 12th time the two teams have met in the World Series, but the first since 1981.

The Dodgers last won the title in the Covid-hit 2020 season while the Yankees are chasing their first crown since 2009.
