All systems go for Aviatress to turn the tables at Morphettville Parks on Saturday.
After flashing home to just miss in the Listed Lightning Stakes three weeks ago, progressive four-year-old Aviatress is well placed to go a couple better and is this week's best bet.
She was the one every punter wanted to follow from last month's feature after unleashing a devastating turn of foot to just miss Lingani (0.4L), with talented three-year-old filly Kuroyanagi splitting them.
The R & C Jolly-trained mare picked up right where she left off last campaign by running to a career peak of 100 on the Racing and Sports scale, the exact same figure she produced when jumping 6-1 second pick in May's Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes.
The talented daughter of Smart Missile now meets Lightning Stakes winner Lingani 3kgs better at the weights and is also drawn much more favourably, moving from barrier 13 to three.
Expecting the weight swing to prove significant and with improvement anticipated I'm confident she will be able to justify her firm market support.
Another one I'm keen on comes a few races earlier and it's Alpine Edge from the Michael Hickmott yard.
Opting to make her return over the border, Alpine Flyer was far from disgraced at Flemington when chasing solidly into the frame in what was a strongly run race.
Returning with a rating of 94 on the R&S scale, the six-year-old mare was only two pounds off her best. Profiling as terrific second-up performer this sets up perfectly for her to match or better her peak. If she can do that, she will take plenty of stitching.
