Sabitini Salutes In Quezette

Sabitini has handled a substantial class rise to win the Group 3 Quezette Stakes at Caulfield.

The Lee and Shannon Hope-trained was stepping up noticeably in grade for Saturday’s Group 3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) after a soft maiden win at Bendigo.

Having been prominent throughout in each of her prior career outings, Nick Hall elected to settle the Street Cry filly back.

The pair made a searching run around the home turn and while it took the length of the straight, collared Royal Snitzel in the concluding stages and claimed some valuable black type.

“I honestly thought she would be in the first four which is why we are here,” Shannon Hope said.

“She is fit and well and just flew under the radar a bit.”

All signs point to the daughter of Street Cry appreciating more ground and is expected to be prominent in futures betting for the Group 1 Thousand Guineas in October by day’s end.

“She is bred to get a mile and maybe a little further.

“It was a big stepping stone today and she has come up trumps. We’ll she how she pulls up.”

Saturday’s Group 3 Quezette Stakes has provided Sabatini with some valuable black type.

Out of Royal Academy mare Royal Sash, the filly is a sister to Group 3 winner Vivi Veloce and the dual stakes placed Just Been Lucky.
